One person was hospitalized after a multi-vehicle accident 2 miles southeast of Fort Supply on Wednesday.
Bruce Soukup, 50, of Guymon, was admitted to Woodward Regional Hospital with head, leg and arm injuries and is listed in stable condition, said the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Hubert Lawton Copeland, 69, of Wheeler, Texas, who was driving one of the other vehicles, was taken to the hospital and treated and released, the OHP said.
According to the OHP report, Soukup was going southeast in his pickup on U.S. Highway 183 and Alfred Francis Wilson, 46, of Sioux Falls South Dakota and Copeland were going northwest. Wilson, who was not injured, was driving a tractor-trailer and Copeland a pickup.
The OHP report said Soukup apparently fell asleep, went left of center and struck the tractor-trailer. Soukup’s pickup then rotated away from the impact and was hit by Copeland’s pickup.
All three drivers were wearing seatbelts.
Soukup was pinned for 41 minutes.
The accident happened around 11 a.m., said the OHP.
Trooper Phillip Ludwyck investigated the accident with assistance from Lt. Stan Wilson and Troopers Pat Fike and Chance Husted. Woodward County EMS and the Woodward Fire Department responded to the scene as well.
