The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has released information about construction projects that will be taking place over Thanksgiving and how they will impact travel on major highways.
Statewide projects include:
• North and southbound I-35 near Blackwell, which is narrowed to one lane between State Highway 11 and U.S. Highway 177 for reconstruction.
• North and southbound I-35, which is narrowed to one lane between U.S. Highway 412 and State Highway 15 north of Perry for cable barrier installation.
• East and westbound I-40, which is narrowed to one lane near Sayre for resurfacing and cable barrier installation.
• Various lane and ramp closures on east and westbound I-44 between Gore Boulevard and Rogers Lane in Lawton for a rehabilitation contract.
• East and westbound I-40, which is narrowed to one lane near Seminole for surface repair.
• East and westbound I-40, which is narrowed to one lane near Webber Falls for a reconstruction project.
The Tulsa metro area includes:
• All westbound lanes of I-244 on the north and west legs of Tulsa’s IDL, which are closed, including west bound I-244 on and off-ramps at Cincinnati-Detroit; the north and southbound U.S. Highway 75 off-ramps to westbound I-244; and eastbound U.S. Highway 412 off-ramp to westbound I-244.
• Ramp and access changes at Peoria Avenue, including the I-44 off ramp to Peoria Avenue, which is closed. Drivers can use the westbound off-ramps at Lewis Avenue or Riverside Drive and follow the detour route to Peoria Avenue.
• All lanes of north and southbound Peoria Avenue, which are closed at the I-44 junction. Use Riverside Drive or Lewis Avenue as detour routes around this work zone. Drivers exiting eastbound I-44 to Peoria Avenue will only be able to go southbound on Peoria Avenue at the I-44/Peoria interchange.
Oklahoma City metro includes:
• Eastbound I-40, which is slightly narrowed. All lanes remain open between Portland Avenue and I-44 through summer 2010 as part of ongoing I-44 crosstown construction.
Oklahoma turnpikes have no planned lane closures. State offices will be closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving.
