Drivers should watch construction areas
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has released information about construction projects that will be taking place over Thanksgiving and how they will impact travel on major highways.
Statewide projects include:
• North and southbound I-35 near Blackwell, which is narrowed to one lane between State Highway 11 and U.S. Highway 177 for reconstruction.
• North and southbound I-35, which is narrowed to one lane between U.S. Highway 412 and State Highway 15 north of Perry for cable barrier installation.
• East and westbound I-40, which is narrowed to one lane near Sayre for resurfacing and cable barrier installation.
• Various lane and ramp closures on east and westbound I-44 between Gore Boulevard and Rogers Lane in Lawton for a rehabilitation contract.
• East and westbound I-40, which is narrowed to one lane near Seminole for surface repair.
• East and westbound I-40, which is narrowed to one lane near Webber Falls for a reconstruction project.
The Tulsa metro area includes:
• All westbound lanes of I-244 on the north and west legs of Tulsa’s IDL, which are closed, including west bound I-244 on and off-ramps at Cincinnati-Detroit; the north and southbound U.S. Highway 75 off-ramps to westbound I-244; and eastbound U.S. Highway 412 off-ramp to westbound I-244.
• Ramp and access changes at Peoria Avenue, including the I-44 off ramp to Peoria Avenue, which is closed. Drivers can use the westbound off-ramps at Lewis Avenue or Riverside Drive and follow the detour route to Peoria Avenue.
• All lanes of north and southbound Peoria Avenue, which are closed at the I-44 junction. Use Riverside Drive or Lewis Avenue as detour routes around this work zone. Drivers exiting eastbound I-44 to Peoria Avenue will only be able to go southbound on Peoria Avenue at the I-44/Peoria interchange.
Oklahoma City metro includes:
• Eastbound I-40, which is slightly narrowed. All lanes remain open between Portland Avenue and I-44 through summer 2010 as part of ongoing I-44 crosstown construction.
Oklahoma turnpikes have no planned lane closures. State offices will be closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving.
