High Plains approves new red flag policy

High Plains Technology Center board members have approved a red flag policy that will give added protection against identity theft to students and faculty.

“It is something we needed,” Superintendent Don Bird told the board Thursday at a special meeting. “Our attorney had one written for other schools, so it was pretty easy for us to get one.

“The policy is to protect social security numbers and credit cards, and is required by law.”

In other business, the board opened its meeting to the public for questions about its budget, including past and future expenditures. However, no one spoke up.

Before adjourning the board also approved encumbrances from the general fund in the amount of $115,759 and approved the activity fund report and treasure’s report for Sept. 2009.
