Eggs and Issues set for Friday

Woodward, Okla. — Anyone interested in a preview of this year's legislative session, as well as a recap of the first week, will have a chance to hear from area legislators on Friday.

The Woodward Chamber of Commerce's first Eggs and Issues get together for this year is set for 7:30 a.m. at the High Plains Technology Center.

Chamber President C. J. Montgomery said Reps. Jeff Hickman and Mike Sanders will be on hand along with Sen. Bryce Marlatt. Rep. Gus Blackwell is also a possibility, Montgomery said.

"You can hear what the goals for the upcoming session are, what the legislators anticipate, what the focus will be," Montgomery said. "Each individual legislator will also list their goals and talk about legislation they are promoting."

Typically each legislator will give an overview of the session and a question and answer period will follow.

Montgomery said the forum should be over by 9 a.m.

Eggs and Issues is a free forum and open to anyone who wants to attend, Montgomery said.

Due to various other conflicts during the spring, the only other Eggs and Issues type event the Chamber will hold will be in May.

  • Fire chief says search almost complete in Oklahoma

    MOORE, Okla. (AP) — The search for survivors and the dead is nearly complete in the Oklahoma City suburb that was smashed by a mammoth tornado, the fire chief said Tuesday.

    Gary Bird said he's "98 percent sure" there are no more survivors or bodies to recover under the rubble in Moore, a community of 56,000 people.

At least 51 people were killed, including at least 20 children, and those numbers were expected to climb, officials said.
