Woodward, Okla. —
The Woodward Pregnancy Center will be holding an open house from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 7 in honor of the center's 19th year anniversary.
"We'd like to give people an opportunity to come in, see the facility, and be able to learn what we do and how we serve the community," said Belva Mabra, director of the Pregnancy Center.
"We offer free pregnancy tests, provide counseling, and even hold parenting classes," Mabra said.
In addition to these services, parents can also earn materials that their baby might need.
"People who attend parenting classes can earn either 'mommy money' or 'daddy dollars,'" Mabra said. "And they can use those to buy items that have been donated to the center, whether it be formula, diapers, or anything else."
In addition to being a good way to reach out to potential clients, Mabra said The Pregnancy Center's open house is also a way for the organization to share their mission with potential donors and volunteers who would like to help support that mission.
She said The Pregnancy Center is always in need of baby items to distribute to the parents it serves, including, but not limited to, diapers, formula, baby wipes, bottles, and clothes. They also accept tax deductible donations to pay for the items people need but that don't get donated.
The center also needs volunteers, including people who are willing to listen and talk with clients and help guide the new parents through the challenges that come with raising a baby.
Those interested in helping The Pregnancy Center in any way are encouraged to stop by the open house on Sunday, or to visit the center during regular office hours between noon and 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, or to contact Belva Mabra at 254-2805.
