Woodward, Okla. —
The Plains Indians and Pioneers Museum is currently accepting submissions for an upcoming quilt show, titled "A Stitch in Time."
Local quilters are invited to enter their work to be displayed at the museum throughout the month of November. Or people may submit quilts that may have been passed down from a previous generation as the quilt show seeks to showcase local quilting talent both past and present.
"We're interested in displaying both the talent of people as well as their family history," stated Jo Simmons, an organizer of the quilt show. "We believe there's a story behind every quilt, and we'd like to give them an opportunity to be told."
On the entry form for the show, entrants are encouraged "if there is an interesting story about your quilt, to please include it in the entry form." The museum also encourages entrants to include a photograph of the quilter along with the quilt as another means of capturing the history behind it.
Entry forms can be acquired at Sally's Quilt Shop, the Woodward and Mooreland senior centers, as well as the museum itself or on their website at pipm1.org under the "latest events" section.
The museum is still eager to accept entries, but with the deadline for acceptance set for Oct. 9, those interested in displaying their quilts or telling the story behind them are encouraged to act fast.
