Man injured after motorcycle hits deer

Woodward, Okla. — A Pawhuska man was injured in a motorcycle accident near Mooreland early Tuesday morning.

Craig H. Heldren, 61, is currently in the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City in serious condition with head, leg, arm and internal injuries, said the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Heldren was injured when his 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle collided with a deer on State Highway 50 about 1 mile west and 3.7 miles south of Mooreland, the OHP said. The accident happened around 6:30 a.m.

The OHP report said Heldren was ejected from the motorcycle for 141 feet.

He was first taken to Woodward Regional Hospital by ambulance then by air evac to OU Medical Center, the OHP said.

Trooper Phillip Ludwyck investigated the accident. Woodward fire, EMS and the Woodward County Sheriff's office also responded.
