Woodward, Okla. —
NWOSU-Woodward will be holding a "Chili for the Fund" chili fundraiser to benefit the United Fund of Woodward next week.
The United Fund of Woodward is a nonprofit organization that collects money to help fund 10 local charities including the Red Cross, Salvation Army, Kids Inc., Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Northwestern Literacy Council, Senior Center, Panhandle Nutrition, High Plains Outreach Center, and Legal Aid.
"Northwestern always loves giving back to the community," said Dr. Deena Fisher, dean of NWOSU-Woodward branch. "This is just one more opportunity for staff, faculty, and students to give their support for such a great cause."
Chili for the Fund will take place on Wednesday Oct. 31 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again at 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The meal, which is provided by Dan's Steak House, will be served in the commons area of the NWOSU-Woodward campus.
The meal is by donation only, so people are encouraged to come enjoy the meal and give what they can to help support the United Fund of Woodward, Fisher said.
The event will also feature a basket auction, in which the public will have the opportunity to buy tickets in hopes of winning a NWOSU-themed basket filled with Northwestern T-shirts and tumblers, as well as gift cards and much more.
"We encourage everyone to come down when they can; they're welcome one or both times. And we really appreciate any and all donations," said Charlie Burns, special events coordinator for NWOSU-Woodward.
