Townwide garage sale coming up

Woodward, Okla. — Looking for great deals on some slightly used items?

You could be in luck.

This weekend marks the fall edition of the Woodward townwide garage sale.

According to Kathy Whenry, classified manager of the Woodward News, as of Thursday morning there have been 36 garage sales advertised in the News and residents have until 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 14 to get an ad published.

"We have a garage sale package that includes 2 signs, price labels and sales sheets. Also if the weather turns bad you can reschedule your sale for another day at no additional charge," Whenry said.

In the Friday (Sept. 14) and Saturday (Sept. 15) editions of the News there will be a map and a break down by street of area garage sales.

"We even have some businesses that are participating so we are really starting to build momentum," she said.

Whenry says that people tend to sell more if their sale items are organized and if clothing items are clean and mended.

"There are going to be lots of school clothes available, some even with the tags still on them," Whenry said.

Many sales will be held on both Friday and Saturday, be sure to check the News for times of the ones that you want to attend because each sale is different. Whenry said some who will be having 2 days sales may put new items out on Saturday so don't be afraid to check sales out on both days.

And if you have items like furniture or household appliances left over after the garage sale, a church in Mooreland is ready to put them to good use.

The United Methodist Church in Mooreland has taken several loads of appliances and furniture to Oklahoma City to help victims of this summer's wildfires. The church is putting together another truck load and will come pick up left over items if you want to donate. Organizers said you can call the church office at 994-5550 for more information.
