Woodward, Okla. —
Cedar Heights will be hosting its annual Chili Supper next week.
Cedar Heights Principal Bana Bogdahn said, "This is the fundraiser's 14th year. Our PTO organizes the chili supper and auction."
The event will feature both a live and silent auction, featuring items donated from local businesses as well as people from the community, according to Cedar Heights Secretary Tammy Bruehl.
There will also be a raffle for half of a hog, which was donated by the Bank of Western Oklahoma.
The Cedar Heights chili supper will take place Feb. 4 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The silent auction will begin at 5 p.m. followed by a live auction at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets for the event and for the raffle can be purchased at Cedar Heights or from any PTO member prior to the fundraiser, or at the door the night of the event.
"The money raised during the fundraiser all goes towards technology for the students and building. Because of a lack of funding we don't have all the technology we need, so all our students will benefit from this," Bogdahn said.
In particular, she said the money will go towards maintaining current technological equipment such as computers and projectors, as well as obtaining new computers.
Having up-to-date technology equipment is important, Bogdahn said, because "Students need to learn how to use technology for research and how to apply it to real world situations, so when they get to the workforce they're familiar with all the ways you can use it."
