Woodward, Okla. —
OnStage Woodward will hold auditions for parts in its December production of "The Christmas Toy Shop."
Auditions for the play are set for 7 p.m. on Sept. 4, Sept. 5 and Sept. 7 at the Woodward Arts Theater auditorium.
Organizers describe the play as "a teasing toybox, mischievous boys and a frustrated elf find themselves in an abandoned shop in a small town on Christmas Even, changing the lives of 2 young orphans.'
Some of the characters include a naive Swedish music box doll, a shy timid Jack-in-the-Box (who's afraid of everything including his box), a handsome bragging toy soldier, a vibrant gypsy doll, a wealthy snobbish lady who caters to every whim of her 2 very spoiled children, a mysterious spirit who does not speak but dances, a kindhearted townsman who would dearly love to have a toy shop of his own, and Mr. Claus himself. Additional cast members include various elves and assistants, townspeople of all ages and many toys and dolls of all types.
OnStage Woodward will be looking for 2 adult males, one adult female, 3 teenage girls and 2 teenage boys (ages 14 to 18), 2 male and 2 female children ages 10 to 12 and a male age 16 to 25. Several children ages 4 to 6 will be needed to play elves and toys. There are several walk-on parts as townspeople of all ages.
