County to consider financial options for fairgrounds project

Woodward, Okla. — Woodward County Commissioners will tackle a full agenda at their regular meeting on Monday.

Things get under way at 10 a.m. in the courthouse.

Commissioners will be reviewing and discussing possible financial options to fund a proposed improvement project for the Woodward County Fairgrounds.

Also on the agenda is an engagement letter between Business Valuators and Appraisers, LLC and the board of commissioners.

"Nextera Energy Resources-Sooner Wind is suing Woodward County over a property tax dispute," Woodward County Court Clerk Charlotte Waggoner said. "That engagement letter was tabled from the last commissioners meeting. The letter proposes that the commissioners be the expert witnesses for the case Nextera Energy Resources-Sooner Wind vs Woodward County."

With Commissioner Ted Craighead's upcoming retirement in December, two positions he will be leaving vacant are on the agenda to be filled.

Craighead serves on the Woodward County Public Facilities Authority Board (WCPFAB).

Waggoner said, "They'll appoint either the incoming commissioner Randy Johnson or one of the current commissioners, either Tommy Roedell or Vernie Matt  to be on the board, then it will go to the WCPFAB board for approval."

The new appointee will start in January.

Craighead also services on the  Circuit Engineering District 8 Board and will be replaced by Johnson or one of the current commissioners.

Several bids are also up for consideration, including the rebidding of the high pressure self contained breathing apparatuses for Woodward County Fire Departments.

Waggoner said, "The bids for the breathing apparatuses had to be resubmitted to purchasing agent, now they'll be deciding on them."

A 12 month model ballot printing will also be bid on along with a 6-month bid for limestone chips used in road repairs and a 6-month bid for grader blades and bolts used for road grading.

The meeting will conclude with the disposal of obsolete or sold equipment from the district 2 inventory.

Waggoner said, "Thats just equipment that should have been taken off inventory already."
