Woodward, Okla. — ELGIN – Jesus Munoz kicked a 27-yard field goal with 10 seconds remaining to give the Boomers a 37-35 win over the Owls in District 4A-1 football Friday night.

Munoz’ kick ended a wild game that saw Elgin score twice in the last 6 minutes to erase a 34-21 deficit and take a 35-34 advantage with 1:55 remaining.

The Boomers improved to 2-1 in district play and are tied for second place with Piedmont, Clinton and Weatherford. Anadarko is 3-0 in the district after its 28-21 win over Clinton on Friday.

In a game that went back and forth all night, Elgin took a 3-0 lead, but the Boomers went up 7-3 on a 2-yard run by Ky Merriman.

A 69-yard punt return for a score regained the lead for the Owls.

In the third period, the Owls regained the lead briefly at 21-20, but the Boomers got back ahead on a 1-yard run by Taylor, then stretched the lead to 34-21 after Taylor’s 34-yard run and the extra point kick by Munoz.
