Forgan man dies in wreck

Woodward, Okla. — A 50-year-old Forgan man died Wednesday afternoon from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle rollover accident Wednesday morning.

Edwin Dale Searcy died around 4:20 p.m. at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, said the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Searcy was life-flighted to Amarillo with head, leg and intrnal and external trunk injuries, the OHP said. He was originally taken to Beaver County Memorial Hospital.

Searcy was driving a 1996 Freightlinter tractor, east of Forgan heading eastbound on United States Highway 64 at 8:37 a.m. Wednesday morning, OHP said.  He attempted to enter a curved access road to go in a southbound direction and rolled the tractor one time coming to a rest on its wheels and the trailer rolled 3/4 time coming to rest on the passenger side, OHP said.

Searcy was pinned in the vehicle for 23 minutes before being freed by emergency personnel.  He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, the OHP said.

The accident was invested by OHP Trooper Michael Eckhardt of the Beaver detachment.  He was assisted by OHP Trooper Tracy Brown.
