Woodward, Okla. —
The annual meeting, banquet and trade show of the Northwest Oklahoma Cattlemen's Foundation is set for Oct. 30.
Event Co-Chair Dana Bay said the trade show will open at 4:30 p.m., and will run until the beginning of the meeting and banquet, which is set for around 6:30 p.m.
Fellow Co-Chair Lance England said he is "looking forward to the trade show and banquet."
England said that the event usually has a lot to offer area cattle producers.
For example, during the trade show, attendees can visit booths in which vendors display everything from animal health supplies, feeds, and various farm machinery and equipment, Bay said. In the past there have even been booths operated by local banks that offer agriculture loans, she said.
There is still time for additional vendors to sign up to participate in the trade show.
"The deadline to register a booth is Oct. 26," Bay said.
England noted that there are about 350 members in the Northwest Oklahoma Cattlemen's Foundation. Those members and others among the general public are all welcome to attend the upcoming trade show.
However, to attend the banquet you must be a foundation member.
"To attend the banquet and meeting, just show up and join the foundation. The (membership) fee gets you admission," Bay said.
AG-WISE GUEST SPEAKER PLANNED
This year's Cattlemen's Foundation banquet will feature 2011 Miss Oklahoma Betty Thompson as the guest speaker.
Bay said that prior to earning a degree in elementary education from Oklahoma State University last year, Thompson was active in 4-H and FFA at Davenport High School. Now after graduating college, Thompson currently serves as a member of the Dairy Farmers Spokespersons' Net and is a Dairy Max Classroom Educator.
Bay said the cattlemen's group is excited to feature Thompson as their guest speaker at this year's banquet for many reasons. As a former Miss Oklahoma, Thompson has obviously proven her abilities as a public speaker, Bay said. In addition, she said Thompson's role in the dairy industry and her agriculture background make her quit
