Woodward, Okla. —
Do you want to learn how to knit or love to knit and want to help others learn the craft?
Then join the “Knit Whits" knitting club at the Woodward Public Library.
Wanda Braun was approached a few weeks ago by Cindy Colclasure of the Library who was just learning how to knit and wanted to learn how to do certain patterns.
"Cindy put a sign up sheet on the counter here at the library to see how many others would be interested," Braun said.
Around 10 women signed up and The Knit Whits group was formed.
Braun said that those who have attended the 2 classes they have held so far are at all different levels of knitting.
"Most are learning the very basics of knitting, while others are more advanced and helping the new learners with the different techniques," she said.
In Thursday's class Braun said that they started a wash cloth and she showed a few of the more advanced people some pearling and circular knitting.
"It is a great way for those that want to learn new techniques for knitting or if they just want a place to socialize while they knit," Braun said.
She said that the classes will be held at the library at 9 a.m. on 2 Thursdays a month, and if you are interested in attending to call the library at 254-8544 for more information. While the group is currently made up of female knitters, Braun said men are welcome to join too.
"Everyone is welcome and if you have a pattern that you want to learn or just need help with bring it along," Braun said.
