Woodward, Okla. —
Several area communities showed a significant jump in sales tax receipts in a report released this month by the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
Woodward was over the $1 million mark in the November disbursement while Alva, Fairview, Cherokee and Waynoka were among the communities showing big increases. Receipts also increased by good amounts in Beaver, Buffalo, Laverne, Shattuck and Seiling.
Woodward's total of approximately $1.1 million was up from the almost $895,000 from the state reporting period last year.
The collections represent the time frame from Sept. 16 to Sept. 30 and estimated sales from Oct. 1 through Oct. 14.
Statewide, the overall increase was nearly $5 million over the same time frame a year ago.
Some area counties also recorded big jumps in sales tax revenue, especially Woods, Beaver and Ellis counties.
