March of Dimes event Saturday

Woodward, Okla. — The March of Dimes March for Babies will be held this Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Woodward County Fair Barns.

The March for Babies, the largest fundraiser done by the March of Dimes, and is to benefit  the lifesaving research and educational programs aimed at helping moms have healthy babies.

Pre-march activities will begin at 4:15 p.m. with registration, photos with this year's Ambassador family and other contests that include best designed T-shirt, designed dog, decorated stroller or wagon and decorated bicycle.

There will also be entertainment offered before and during the walk, which will include face painting, tattoos, inflatables, music and the Air Evac helicopter.

Stephanie Soucek, division director of March of Dimes, said it is never too late to sign up for the fundraising walk.

"People can still register by calling the March of Dimes at (580) 278-2921 or by visiting the website at www.marchforbabies.org," Soucek said.

"We are expecting between 300 to 400 participants this year," Soucek said.

Here is a list of events for Saturday:

4:15 p.m. - Registration will begin; contests; and team photos

4:30 p.m.  - Warm up; Presentation of Colors, Announcements; Prayer and National Anthem

5:00 p.m. - March for Babies will begin

6:00 p.m. - Family Picnic for participants; Games for kids; Awards and the Dairy Queen ice cream truck.
