Woodward, Okla. —
BUFFALO--Homecoming activities have been keeping many at Buffalo High School busy this week and will continue to do so through the weekend.
The school began its celebratory activities on Monday with a pep rally and a scavenger hunt. Tuesday was "game day" for pre-kindergarten through 6th grades.
Tonight there will be a spaghetti dinner at the high school cafeteria from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a presentation to follow called "The Unstoppable You" with guest speaker and author Craig Conrad.
Thursday there will be high school games with the traditional Bison relays.
"The new thing this year is a teacher team in the relays," said Jan Opserman, student council advisor, who is in charge of homecoming activity planning.
Weekend homecoming activities will begin at 2:50 p.m. Friday with another pep rally. The presentation of players will be at 6:30 p.m. at the football field with coronation and crowning of the king and queen to follow at 6:45 p.m.
The homecoming game versus Goodwell begins at 7 p.m. Friday. There will be a "5th quarter" to follow at the Baptist Church where games will be available to play.
"The highlight of homecoming is the ball game and coronation," Opserman said.
The Buffalo homecoming alumni parade will take place on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. on Hoy Street.
There will also be a street dance on Friday and Saturday night from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Brent Inderlied, with the Buffalo Barbeque Festival, said the dance is a fundraiser for the barbeque cook-off.
A DJ will be at the dance Friday and the band Overdrive will perform on Saturday, Inderlied said. The dance is not free, but it is open for all ages and anyone who would like to attend. It will take place on West Turner between Main Street and 1st Street.
