Lawton woman facing drug charges

A 24-year-old Lawton woman made an initial appearance in Woodward County District Court Monday after she was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled and dangerous substance with intent to distribute -- a felony.

The woman, Amanda Sue Ray Parker, was also charged with bringing contraband into a penal institution. Her preliminary hearing was set for 9:30 a.m. June 9, and her bond was set at $15,000.

According to the Woodward County Sheriff’s Department, Parker bonded out on Monday shortly after appearing in court.

According to a court affidavit filed with the charges, Parker was arrested after being stopped in her car while traveling on the grounds of the William S. Key Correctional Center in Fort Supply.

A friend and her two young children were with Parker.

Officer Travis Riley said in the court affidavit that Parker’s car was searched on the prison grounds.

Officers found a black plastic bag containing cigars, rolling papers and 4.6 ounces of a green leafy substance and clear plastic bags in the back seat on the driver’s side.

“Sheriff Gary Stanley arrived and allowed (the friend) to leave,” Officer Travis Riley said in the affidavit.

The friend, who appeared not to know anything about it, took the children and the vehicle with her, the affidavit said.

According to the affidavit, Parker was at the prison to visit her boyfriend, an inmate named Michael Banks.
