Chili lovers and the United Fund will both benefit next Wednesday as Northwestern Oklahoma State University-Woodward hosts the United Fund Chili Lunch.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and anyone is invited, said Dr. Deena Fisher, dean of NWOSU-Woodward. Cost is by donation.
“It’s a fundraiser for our entity (NWOSU-Woodward) to raise money for the United Fund,” said Fisher. “We have some prizes and do a raffle for the students. It’s our way of giving back to the community.”
Linda Phillips, administrative assistant at NWOSU-Woodward, is cooking the chili. Phillips won the first chili cookoff the United Fund sponsored.
Fisher said they average serving between 80 and 100 meals during the event with the highest total at 110
“It’ just a lot of fun,” she said. “We try to make it a festive time.”
The Woodward Student Leadership Board puts on the chili lunch.
This is the first year for the event at the new building, and actually it’s one of the first community events period at the new building.
