Recently Woodward’s Sharon Yeager, principal of Cedar Heights Elementary School, was named one of 15 Administrators of the Year finalists in the state of Oklahoma by the Oklahoma Association of Elementary School Principals.
Out of the 15 administrators Yeager has been named one of three finalists in the state selected as part of the process of naming Administrator of the Year.
“I was really honored and surprised,” said Yeager.
The three finalists will be honored at a banquet in June and Yeager will receive the James Burnett Distinguish Principal Award.
Yeager said the teachers of Cedar Heights are the reason the school is so highly rated.
“I’ve always thought a great school is the great teachers within the school,” said Yeager. “(The teachers) are what make the school great.”
The selection process was based on leadership, social and academic standards, quality academic content and instruction, school goals, community engagement and the assessment, identification and application of instructional improvement.
Sandra Kent of Bartlesville will be named Administrator of the Year.
