Fisher to serve second term for Historical Society
Woodward’s Dr. Deena Fisher, dean of Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Woodward campus, has been elected to serve a second term on the Oklahoma Historical Society board of directors.
“I have enjoyed serving on the (Oklahoma Historical Society’s) board of directors,” Fisher said. “And I am pleased to be elected to serve another term.”
The term as a board member is three years and Fisher said during her last three years on the board she has enjoyed seeing the opening of the Oklahoma History Center, the opening of the governor’s exhibit, meeting African-American historian Bruce Fisher and serving on several committees.
The board consists of 13 elected members and 12 members appointed by the governor.
Fisher is currently in Ardmore attending the Oklahoma Historical Society’s annual meeting where she will moderate the presentation of two papers concerning the boundary disputes between Oklahoma and Texas along the Red River.
Fisher is also an associate professor of history.
