Taloga church planning special event

Woodward, Okla. — The newest pastor to the Taloga Christian Church, Curtis Cox, wants to invite one and all to a special "round-up" on Sunday, Sept. 16.

"I want to create interest and excitement for our church and our community," Cox said.

According to Cox, this round-up is not for the herding of cattle, but for the gathering of people who may have "strayed from the Lord."

"We will gather so that we can be challenged to come together in a great round-up as we start our spiritual journey while following our trail boss, Jesus Christ," Cox said.

The round-up will start at 10 a.m. for Sunday school and continue through the worship service that will start at 10:45 a.m.

"During the worship service we will have the quartet 'Forgiven' performing," Cox said.

Following the services there will be a pot luck meal and then at 1 p.m., "Forgiven" will perform a full concert.  The all-male group, which performs Southern gospel music, was originally formed out of the Second Baptist Church in Ponca City.  In addition to the 4 singers the group includes a bass player and a pianist.

All are welcome for the round-up service.  Attendees are asked to please bring a dish for the pot luck meal.

"I want to do something to put Taloga on the map," Cox said of the special service. "I'm hoping that next year we will be able to have a chuck wagon."

For more information contact Curtis Cox at (580) 328-5252.
