Starbuck-Mead Engagement

Woodward, Okla. — Kala Nicole Starbuck and Marcus Wayne Mead announce their engagement and plans to marry on June 12, 2010, at 5 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Alva.

Starbuck is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tim Starbuck, of Alva.  Her maternal grandparents are Jim and Bobbie Poindexter, of Choctaw, and the late Carolyn Poindexter.   Paternal grandparents are Tom and Lois Starbuck, of Gage, and Danny and Donna Ogle, of Shattuck. 

She is a 2005 graduate of Alva High School and is currently attending Northwestern Oklahoma State University where she is working on her bachelor’s degree in secondary education.

Mead is the son of Dr. And Mrs. Chandler Mead, of Alva.  His maternal grandparents are Judy and the late Duane Whited, of Woodward, and his maternal great grandparent is Lynna Brown of Woodward. Paternal grandparents are Lynda Mead of Woodward and the late Lonnie Mead. 

He is a 2004 graduate of Alva High School and a 2009 graduate of Emporia State University where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in recreation. He is currently working on his master’s degree in education at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He is working as a graduate assistant and is linebacker coach for the Ranger football team.

After their honeymoon the couple will reside in Alva.
